Step by stepFound a country and choose its next development
You begin with a flag, a few settlers and an empty treasury. Your first choices establish the country; later decisions cover its economy, infrastructure and relationships with other nations.
- Choose the objective
Choose among six lands with different playstyles, then select your government, founding story and right-hand adviser. Make these founding choices before moving on to the country's day-to-day decisions.
- Carry out the activity
Run the Command Center through the Decision Desk and briefings from Military, Economy, Infrastructure, Cities and World. Use these to address national decisions, including taxes and the development of cities, airports, ports and railways.
- Handle the next decision
When choosing your next development, consider city building alongside transport infrastructure rather than treating them as the same task. Watch GDP and debt as you make economic decisions: debt past three times GDP crashes the economy.
- Decide what comes next
After addressing domestic development, turn to World briefings and your biggest rival. Decide whether your next activity should be a trade deal or an alliance rather than immediately adding another construction project.
RecoveryRespond to debt pressure and failed diplomacy
- Recognize the danger
- Watch debt relative to GDP: the economy crashes past three times GDP. Separately, failed talks can lead to the War Room. Identify whether your immediate problem is economic pressure or conflict before continuing expansion.
- Leave the dangerous situation
- For debt pressure, pause your expansion plans and return to Economy briefings, tax decisions and GDP management. For a rival dispute, pursue talks and alliances while diplomacy remains possible; if talks fail, address the War Room rather than continuing routine development.
- Return to the objective
- Before resuming city or transport building, reassess debt against current GDP and whether the rival dispute still requires your attention. Resume development when those immediate pressures no longer take priority; do not treat an alliance as a solution to economic debt.
Step by stepChoose trade or an alliance when facing a rival
- Choose the objective
Decide whether you want to sign a trade deal or form an alliance. These are distinct diplomatic choices: choose trade when a deal is your objective, or an alliance when you want that relationship with another nation.
- Carry out the activity
Review World briefings in the Command Center, then pursue talks with your rival and sign the trade deal or alliance you choose. Keep Economy briefings in view as a separate responsibility; diplomacy does not replace managing taxes, GDP and debt.
- Handle the next decision
If talks succeed, continue with the agreement you chose. If talks fail, shift attention to the War Room. Treat that as a change from diplomacy to conflict, not as another step in signing a trade deal.
- Decide what comes next
After completing the diplomatic activity, choose a domestic task such as building a city, port or railway. Check the country's economic position before choosing further development; signing a deal and managing debt remain separate decisions.
