Step by stepBuild your plans around the current world
The planned new areas, events, skins and other additions are expansions intended for after the main game is finished. For now, make your session about the activities already described: exploring, fighting and assembling a party.
- Choose the objective
Choose a present-day objective such as finding secrets or expanding your character roster, rather than making a planned event or skin the goal of your session.
- Carry out the activity
Explore the current world and pursue its available activities. If your objective is party building, work on unlocking characters and assembling your party; future expansion is a development plan, not a player building task.
- Handle the next decision
If a planned addition is what interests you, set it aside for a later visit. Choose exploration for discovering the world or combat for engaging enemies and bosses now.
- Decide what comes next
After pursuing your current objective, try a different existing activity: move from party building to a fight, or from fighting to searching for areas and secrets.
Step by stepExplore for areas and secrets
- Choose the objective
Make discovery your objective when you want to see more of the world. Searching for new areas and secrets is a different focus from seeking enemies and bosses.
- Carry out the activity
Explore the world with attention to areas you have not visited and secrets you have not found. Let discovery guide your movement rather than making every encounter the purpose of the trip.
- Handle the next decision
When combat competes for your attention, choose whether to engage enemies or keep your session focused on discovery. Fighting serves the combat activity; continuing exploration serves your search for unfamiliar areas.
- Decide what comes next
Finding an unfamiliar area gives you another place to explore. If you would rather change pace after searching, switch to fighting enemies or bosses instead of treating every session as a discovery run.
Step by stepChoose a combat focus
- Choose the objective
Decide whether you want to fight enemies or take on a boss. Both are described combat activities; choose the one you want to spend this session pursuing.
- Carry out the activity
Build your party from your unlocked characters, then pursue your chosen combat activity. Keep party selection and fighting as separate decisions rather than assuming a particular roster produces a particular result.
- Handle the next decision
If you want to try another party composition, return your attention to party building. If you want more combat with the party you have, continue fighting enemies or pursue a boss.
- Decide what comes next
Use your experience of the fight to choose between another combat attempt and a change of activity. Searching for areas and secrets offers a discovery-focused next step instead of another battle.
Priority planPrioritize roster breadth or party selection
- Choose the next priority
- Prioritize unlocking characters when you want more roster choices. Prioritize building your party when you want to choose among characters you already have. Exploration provides a separate goal: finding areas and secrets.
- Work toward that objective
- For roster breadth, focus on character unlocking. For party composition, assemble your party from your available characters. Keep these distinct: acquiring another character and selecting a party answer different needs.
- When to switch priorities
- If your available characters already give you choices you want to try, spend attention on party selection and combat. If you want a broader selection instead, make unlocking your focus rather than repeatedly rearranging the same roster.
- Plan the next session
- Look at which characters you have unlocked and which you selected for your party. A new character gives you another selection to consider; an unchanged roster may make trying a different party or exploring more appealing.
