Step by step

Search the two floors, then escape through the gate

Your escape objective is the dynamite, not simply reaching a sealed door. Treat searching and opening the exit as separate tasks: explore while looking for the dynamite, then use it to blow the gate.

  1. Search beyond one floor

    Explore the building's two dark floors for dynamite. If your search on one floor has not turned it up, continue exploring the other rather than treating the sealed gate as an exit you can already use.

  2. Switch to the exit objective

    Once you have found the dynamite, make blowing the gate your next objective. The dynamite is the described means of opening the escape route.

Recovery

Interrupt your search when the spider hunts

Take shelter
When the giant spider hunts, stop pursuing the dynamite and hide in the vents. Use this part of the run for survival rather than continued exploration.
Check before resuming
Before leaving shelter, check whether the spider is still hunting. If the hunt continues, keep hiding; resume exploring only when it appears safe to leave.
