Recover your footing before lava catches you

Before using these controls: When lava threatens your current position, make escaping that danger your immediate objective. Locate a reachable surface above the lava and choose a landing area before attempting to move.
Movement controls: If available, use Movement controls to move toward the surface you selected rather than continuing aimlessly under pressure. Keep choosing your route yourself; once there, compare your footing and the lava position before moving again.
Safe tile movement assist: If available, try Safe tile movement assist when recovering toward a visible landing surface. Choose the intended surface yourself and watch where you actually arrive. If the landing leaves you near danger, select another reachable surface instead of resuming the climb.
Speed adjustment: If available, use Speed adjustment when your movement makes it difficult to reach or stay on the chosen landing area. Judge the change by whether you can stop where intended; favor controllable movement over rushing past your escape surface.
When to resume: Resume the upward race once you have stable footing above the lava. If your landing is still threatened, choose another reachable surface first rather than turning your attention back to the next color guess.

Earn layers through closer color guesses

Choose the objective
Focus on the shown character's main color rather than a small accent or accessory. Your immediate objective is a closer color match, because closer guesses earn more tower layers.
Carry out the activity
Identify the character's dominant color, choose your guess, and observe the layers awarded. Use those layers to continue racing upward while keeping the lava below you.
Handle the next decision
If a guess earns fewer layers than you expected, reconsider whether you focused on the main color or a secondary detail. If the guess is close, keep that main-color approach for the next character rather than reusing the same color automatically.
Decide what comes next
Turn the gained height into progress toward the top. When the next character appears, make a fresh color judgment; the race rewards accurate guesses while still requiring you to avoid the lava.

Priority plan

Choose cosmetics or competitive progress

Choose the next priority: Choose tower skins if you want a different tower appearance, or emotes if you want another way to express yourself. Leaderboards offer a separate competitive aim: racing to the top ahead of other players.
Work toward that objective: Play rounds to earn Gems and work toward the skin or emote you prefer. For competitive play, concentrate on closer color guesses and reaching the top first; playing with friends gives you a direct race to focus on.
When to switch priorities: If lava repeatedly ends your climb, put cosmetic selection aside during rounds and focus on surviving the race. If you are happy with your current appearance, give your attention to beating friends rather than choosing another cosmetic.
Plan the next session: Use your earned Gems and the skins or emotes you can unlock to choose your next cosmetic goal. If the race itself is more appealing, return with friends and aim to finish ahead of them or pursue leaderboard progress.
